Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

• Manage weekly dedicated slot in the content calendar. Responsible for developing content idea, briefing creative teams (Video Editor/Design team), ensuring meets commercial and brand objectives, approving final content.
• Supporting the Video Editor with content editing when required.
Influencer Marketing (approx. 20%)
• Laise with product teams on suitable destinations
• Research and pitch to influencer
• Coordinate booking and logistics
• Organise and manage influencer content after trips ready for social media and website use
• Monitor and track influencer content results
PR (approx. 10% of role)
• Track and monitor PR coverage
• Produce bi-weekly PR coverage report
• As PR was an area I was interested in getting more experience, I wrote a press release, where I came up with the story, researched, wrote the release and pitched it to journalists.
Special projects
Placement Scheme Charity Project
Alongside my role, I worked with the other placement students on a charity project to raise money for the TUI Care Foundation. This involved organising a fundraising raffle and an event to raise money for the charity.
Placement Scheme Business Project
I also participated in a business project where the placements were pitched a business Challenge. We conducted research, analysed evidence, and presented recommendations to senior stakeholders, providing the opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge gained on placement to a different business area

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given an appropriate amount of responsibility for a placement student, with my autonomy increasing throughout the year. At the start of placement, my manager provided more oversight. As my knowledge and confidence developed, I was trusted to work much more independently and take ownership of a range of tasks and projects.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills on placement including video editing on CapCut and how to use analytics software such as Emplifi to create detailed social reports. Placement at TUI has given me the opportunity to develop skills such as presenting which I had the goal to improve throughout the year. I've had experience doing this in team meetings, in the business project and the charity project.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

My manager was super lovely and approachable. We had regular 1-2-1 checks in, but she was always reachable via Teams whenever I needed help.
At the start of placement I had a 2 week handover with the previous placement student which helped me ease into the role and build my confidence on my daily tasks, whilst she was able to support on these.
Throughout the year I got on with majority of my tasks independently, but if I ever needed any support my manager was always there to help me when needed.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

TUI has a relaxed, supportive and inclusive culture. It is super flexible and the team are understanding when people need to adapt working hours e.g. 8:30-4 and its never an issue, as long as contracted hours are complete.
The working environment is also highly flexible in terms of being in the office. TUI require you to be in once a week, which is usually all people would do. I think it would be nicer if it was in person more, to get more of a social experience.
In addition, the placement scheme do arrange socials once every 2 months such as mini golf and bowling. These are a great way to socialise with all the other TUI placements, helping to build relationships and a sense of community.

Yes

What advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland

My main advice would be to show a genuine interest in both the role and company throughout the application process. Take the time to research the business, its values etc. so you can clearly demonstrate why you want to work there and how you would be a good fit.
During the assessment centre don’t be afraid to show your personality. The team values people are enthusiastic, engaged and willing to contribute ideas.
