Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
A TUI Retail Manager leads a high‑performing travel team, driving sales, service excellence, and operational standards within the store. The role combines people leadership, commercial focus, and a passion for creating unforgettable holiday experiences. Responsibilities include motivating and developing the team, managing daily operations, delivering strong enquiry and conversion performance, and ensuring every customer receives exceptional, personalised service. The manager oversees store targets, compliance, training, and community engagement while fostering a positive, supportive environment where colleagues can thrive. It’s a hands‑on role that blends coaching, problem‑solving, and customer interaction with strategic planning and performance management.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
Completing my Operational Management apprenticeship was genuinely worthwhile. It gave me a solid understanding of how to lead people, manage performance, and keep a business running smoothly day‑to‑day. The mix of theory and real workplace application made the learning feel relevant rather than academic, and I enjoyed being able to take new ideas straight back into my role.
The programme pushed me at times — especially balancing assignments with a busy retail environment — but it also helped me grow in confidence as a manager. I particularly enjoyed the coaching and leadership elements, as they helped me understand my own management style and how to get the best out of my team. Overall, it was challenging in the right ways and definitely something I’m glad I completed it.
