Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role was based on improvement for the logistics department. The main daily tasks were filling in the daily KPIs based on scrap cost and missing and incorrect parts delivered to the line. As an Improvement student I worked on keeping track of all the parts in the warehouse and optimising the layout of the warehouse to reduce the picking/ delivery of these parts using Excel for the database and BricsCad for the layout and design of the racks. Linked to the management of parts, the quarterly packaging audit from an external reviewer meant that I would be taking measurements and ensuring that each parts information was verified on SAP. Other parts of my role were based on improvement projects being implemented: Pick To Light system and EWM system both linked to reduce the human error of thr process in logistics and my role was fo assist in the implementation of these projects from a logistics department point of view.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a high level of responsibility such as leading improvement ideas I suggested as well as being part of the team to help train operators. I also was given the responsibility to lead the packaging audit which was previously not done by the student.

I received alot of guidance from my supervisor and manager. There was also a onboarding process at the start of my placement to better understand my role.
