PC&L student Review

My role in logistics has included, Daily tasks, including checking SAP health, integrating customer EDI, Completing the daily trailer tracker, planning launching and backflushing COP seats. I have also been involved in improvement projects regarding layout and AGV’S. I have also updated the LTC, M&I and FEAL for the FES audit as well as managing waste management during the audit.

I was given a lot of responsibility towards the end of my placement, as I was taking control of projects with the support and feedback of my manager given throughout said projects.

I have learnt many new hard skills including using SAP, IDPS, Visio and WMS. I have also been able to develop my existing skill in Excel and other Office software. I have also been able to develop a lot of my existing soft skills such as communication teamwork, working autonomously and problem solving by working day to day on tasks on my own and with people from different departments.

I have received guidance from many people during my placement which is always available day to day when I am completing tasks. there have been some cases where I have had a short period of time to learn a new piece of software to complete a task, often these skills are not known by many people, so guidance is limited, this had led me to feel pressured with skills I am not very confident in.

The general environment is professional and driven towards the same goal. Naturally, there is occasional tension between departments but this is usually overcome easily. The office is also very supportive and can be laid back at times, but works hard when necessary.

I have enjoyed this experience as it has allowed me to learn many transferrable skills which will be helpful for my future career. I have also worked on a wide variety of tasks which has kept work interesting and more enjoyable as no two days are the same.
