Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

The scheme was very insightful and lovely! The team were very welcoming, and the first day was an induction day to help us get to know the other vacation scheme students, adjust to what to expect during the week, and receive advice on how to make the most of the vacation scheme. We heard from various people and teams within Ashurst to give us as much detail and insight that prepared us for our final training contract interview. We sat within one team for the week and were given various tasks, such as proofreading, sitting in on client calls, and having coffee chats with people across the teams. There were also networking and social opportunities, including mini golf and the Christmas lunch. The week was fully packed and very exciting!

There were talks from various teams that gave us lots of valueable information!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I learnt so much during the vacation scheme. I got to examine documents and help produce company search reports, as well as proofread matters. I think the skill that was crucial during the scheme, was proactivity in reaching out to people for conversations, and using that time valuably in gaining deeper insight into deals.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

To describe the company culture at Ashurst would be a friendly, genuine and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone, from varying levels of seniority, from solicitor apprentices to senior partners, was incredibly generous with their time and ensured to break down their explanations in a simplified way.
