Vacation Schemer Review

The 2-week Scheme is structured to provide insight into two practice areas. Each week, Vacation schemers are placed in a new department and are briefed by their Supervisor on how the department contributes to the firm and day-to-day tasks. Vacation Schemers are assigned tasks, sometimes for live matters with real clients, and given feedback on their work. Each seat ends with an appraisal meeting to gather feedback. The Scheme also includes social events and assessed activities (for eg: a Group Presentation and MCQ skills test). Talks from various departments are also arranged for Vacation Schemers to learn about various function in the firm.

Gaining insight through the Scheme definitely reaffirmed my motivations toward the career, specifically training at the firm. The work was engaging and the people were lovely, so it provided a holistic idea of what working there will involve. It was incredibly useful and acts as a launchpad for future opportunities at the firm.

A mix of both. In my first seat, I sharpened certain skills as the work was similar to previous work experience.
In the second seat, the work was completely new and I developed industry-specific skills. Some common themes were Attention to Detail, Time Management, Ability to Prioritise, Analytical Thinking and Commercial Awareness.

The Company culture is relaxed and down-to-earth and demands high performance at the same time. This makes for a fantastic general atmosphere, especially for young ambitious career-starters.

I enjoyed the Scheme a lot! 10/10 experience. I definitely want to return to the firm and begin a career here!
