Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Had an incredible Summer Vacation Scheme at Winston Taylor!
On the day-to-day, I was given various tasks by the firm's fee-earners -- drafting, proofreading, etc. It was a really great opportunity to expand my legal knowledge and develop key competencies for a career in commercial law. On top of this, I took part in various 'Focus On' sessions, where I learned more about the key areas, sectors, and markets the firm operates on.
I found Winston Taylor's biggest strength to be its people -- everyone was so kind and welcoming! The firm operates an open-plan seating arrangement, which gave me really great exposure to team members across different departments.
Lastly, the Early Talent team were wonderful! They scheduled various events and socials for us which really made the Scheme a great experience.

Overall, the Scheme did a great job explaining the Training Contract structure at Winston Taylor, and I learned a lot about what life as a trainee looks like.

I developed key competencies for a career in commercial law -- drafting, proofreading, etc. I unfortunately did not have the chance to sit in on any meetings with clients.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Overall, I found the culture at Winston Taylor to be excellent. I think the firm's biggest strength is its people -- everyone was very willing to chat about their work, answer questions, and offer their support. I had some lovely conversations with partners as well, who I found to be very approachable! In my second seat, the team invited me to socials, lunches, etc. which made me feel welcomed and included. The Early Talent team offered great support as well.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Winston Taylor
Be yourself! I think the firm really values candidates that are sociable. One of the fee-earners in my first seat said: 'Something that I love about Winston Taylor is that everyone is weird.' It's true -- everyone has a unique personality!
