Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at CGI?

It has been great! Through the initial hiring process and first few days with the team, to being settled in the day to day job, everyone has been kind, welcoming, and helpful. The work is interesting, the people are lovely to be around, and the supervising directors are supportive!

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

As a first year graduate you get put into two projects - one being your main client project and the second being a student only 'SKI' project. The SKI project has been a great opportunity to develop leadership and presentation roles, something which might be hard to come by as a junior developer when surrounded by other seniors in established projects.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

5/5
Workload has been managed very well where within the first few weeks I was confidently contributing towards the team.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

4/5
Whilst the annual salary is around average for this role, CGI offers other perks such as a share purchase scheme, employee discount scheme, private health scheme and many more benefits on top of the base salary. Progression is also offered fairly regularly for graduates (~ every 6 months after your first year).

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

5/5
I got put into a front-end role as previously I had only done back-end work. This initially was daunting but the support from more senior developers made the transition much easier. Despite it being a largely remote role there is still plenty of opportunity to attend events in person.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

4/5
The support has been great - they have a few buddy schemes which I think are to get you to know people around the office, but this didnt work too well. What did work and was supportive was the members of project teams!

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
The work day is generally 9-5:30 with 1 hour lunch. Personally the workload was very well managed where I felt opportunity for progression without loads of overwork and stress. If the workload does become too much your supervising director generally is able to sort it out.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5
The culture is incredibly inclusive, positive and welcoming. The in office / remote policy varies depending on project, however mine has been incredibly flexible thus far!

How would you rate CGI initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5

How would you rate CGI CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

5/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CGI to a friend?

Yes

Why?

There's nothing more to say here regarding the role that hasn't already been said in my previous review questions - CGI have been and are being a great company to work for and I would recommend them to anyone considering one of their roles.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

4/5
I knew pretty much what to expect on day one from the early careers communications - one thing I didn't expect as someone inexperienced in how consultancies worked, was how project oriented the company / job role was.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to CGI?

The recruitment process was the most painless process I have personally gone through. In an era of AI video interviews and ridiculous entrance exams, CGIs process was (as far as job applications / interviews go) easy and stress free. Application -> Assessment Centre + Interview (conducted in the space of a few days - if you got into the assessment centre you were guaranteed an interview) -> offer.
