Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at CGI?

My experience at CGI has been very positive. The graduate programme offers genuine responsibility, varied opportunities and strong support for professional development. I have been able to build confidence, expand my skills and contribute meaningfully to projects while exploring the areas I may want to specialise in long term.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

My role allows me to engage in a variety of responsibilities and project areas, which has been particularly valuable for developing a broad skillset. I enjoy the opportunity to learn continuously, take ownership of my work and gain exposure to different areas of the business. Being trusted with a high level of responsibility and independence for a graduate has helped develop both my confidence and understanding of where I would like to specialise in the future.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

5/5
I have meaningful opportunities to contribute, including working independently and taking a central role in some projects. This allows me to operate at a professional level that may not typically be expected in a graduate role, while stretching my abilities and demonstrating what I can deliver. The responsibility and trust given to me make me feel valued by my teams and provide strong evidence for future progression and promotion.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

5/5
CGI offers a strong compensation package. The flexible benefits scheme provides a wide range of options, including car schemes, private healthcare and a share scheme to which the company contributes. There are regular pay reviews as part of the graduate programme, annual performance-based salary reviews and the opportunity to seek promotion during the graduate scheme, which is not always available elsewhere. Recognition awards, office social events and regular planned activities also contribute positively to the overall package.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5
The role is preparing me very well for my future career by giving me substantial responsibility and exposure to a range of areas. This helps me develop practical experience while identifying where I may want to specialise. Graduate scheme programmes also help broaden my network and I have had valuable opportunities to speak with senior colleagues and business leaders - exposure that is not always available in graduate roles.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

5/5
I would rate this very highly. CGI actively encourages regular training and upskilling, both through formal learning and day-to-day project work. I am consistently exposed to new and emerging technologies and the company's online learning platform provides a useful range of training materials and videos. The availability of vouchers for professional certifications is also a valuable benefit that supports continued development.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
The support I receive is excellent. As part of the graduate scheme, each graduate is paired with a buddy who has experienced the programme themselves. This provides a friendly, approachable source of advice for onboarding, administrative questions and navigating the early stages of the role. My team also has a very flat structure, meaning I can have regular one-to-ones with senior leaders, including directors, to ask questions and discuss my career. There is also a mentoring scheme that offers further opportunities to learn from colleagues across the business.

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
My work-life balance is very good. I have flexibility to work in the office with colleagues or remotely when needed, which makes it easier to manage personal commitments. My team actively emphasises the importance of maintaining a healthy balance and avoiding overworking. CGI also offers a range of internal wellbeing schemes and initiatives that support this.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5
The organisational culture is friendly, approachable and relaxed. Colleagues at all levels are easy to speak to, and the environment encourages collaboration and asking questions. This makes it particularly welcoming as a graduate and helps create a positive atmosphere in which to learn and develop.

How would you rate CGI initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5
I would rate CGI’s equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility initiatives highly. There are several internal networks supporting different communities, including women, LGBTQ+ colleagues, ethnic minorities and neurodivergent colleagues. There are also many female leaders across the business and there is a clear effort to champion diversity and inclusion from senior leadership down.

How would you rate CGI CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

5/5
CGI provides meaningful opportunities to get involved in CSR initiatives. Employees can spend a day each year volunteering, alongside additional CSR events held throughout the year. My office regularly takes part in fundraising for a variety of causes and there are internal teams dedicated to organising and championing these activities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CGI to a friend?

Yes

Why?

CGI offers a supportive and welcoming environment, meaningful responsibility from an early stage, and excellent opportunities to develop professionally. The graduate scheme provides a strong balance of structured support, training, flexibility and exposure to a wide range of projects and senior colleagues. It is an especially good environment for someone who wants to build confidence, develop their skills and explore different career paths.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

5/5
The role has exceeded my expectations. CGI’s recruitment process was the best I experienced across the graduate programmes I applied to. The student recruitment team were helpful and approachable throughout, which made the process much easier. The experience played a key part in my decision to join CGI, as it was clear that the culture was closely aligned with what I was looking for and this has been reflected in my experience since joining.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to CGI?

Be proactive in gaining experience in your chosen area and include it on your CV, even if it feels small. Virtual work experience, online courses and personal projects can all help demonstrate genuine interest and initiative. At interview, be yourself and clearly evidence why you would be a good fit for CGI’s culture and the role. Try to stay relaxed and confident - you have nothing to worry about!
