Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I was a software developer in a team of around 15 people. My day-to-day involved daily standup meetings in the morning and then picking up development tickets and working on them ready for peer review.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was trusted with working on development tasks independently and presenting them to client for any feedback and improvements for the end user.

I developed a greater understanding of the software development process in the Agile methodology and multiple new programming languages: C#, TypeScript, Angular and PowerShell.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture and atmosphere is a very supportive and encouraging one, where career development is at the forefront of everyone's mind, as well as delivering projects to a high standard for our clients. It's quite relaxed in a sense that a work-life balance is important and encouraged.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I've really enjoyed my placement and would happily return to work there after graduating from university. I didn't know what to expect but either way it has exceeded my expectations and thoroughly enjoyed my time at CGI.
