Global Brands & Commercial Services Finance Intern Review

As the GBCS (Global Brands and Commercial Services) Finance Intern, I worked within the FP&A (financial planning and analysis) area of corporate finance. The role is forward-looking, meaning I supported the Brands, Commercial Services, Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management and Technology functions drive brand loyalty, top-line revenue and market share within Hilton’s Brand and Commercial engine. I supported the team in preparing and managing budgets, forecasting corporate expense and revenue, and reporting to our internal stakeholders at various levels within the business. I worked with a wide range of financial and non-financial stakeholders across multiple regions. As well as supporting all aspects of monthly deliverables I had unique opportunity to learn about Hilton's commercial operations, whilst getting to know the teams driving these initiatives, with excellent opportunities to develop business partnering skills and develop an analytical mindset.

Due to team vacancies I was essential to the day to day operations of the team operating at an analyst level role not just an intern.

My line manager was a huge support during my placement but due to team vacancies there was limited support from the wider team.
Following the vacancies being filled, I felt that there was a lot more support from the wider team.

The company culture was incredible. In the canteen there was almost always some sort of activity going on whether it be to support a charity or simply to create a bit of fun.

I found it difficult with the team vacancies however there was such a great group of people surrounding me that I didn't feel the extent of it too much.
