Global RFP Sales Support Intern Review

As a Global RFP Support Intern, I streamline operations by supporting international sellers with administrative tasks such as reporting, auditing and addressing the needs of sellers and also Hilton hotels as well. Some tasks we do on a day-to-day basis is launching RFPs, CVENT reporting, and administrative tasks such as processing audits and updating hotel information.

As I became more confident in the tasks that I am involved in and became more confident in the role, I have gained more responsibility overtime and I have been given a lot of opportunities to be involved in exciting projects and take up new projects if I feel up for the job, so I am now trusted to do my day-to-day tasks as well as take on any new projects without needing any prompt.

Throughout my placement I have learned a few new skills and developed quite a lot of the existing skills I have as well. I have learned the entire RFP Process from scratch and how to effectively use the different systems that Hilton utilise. I have developed a lot of existing skills such as attention to detail, communication , problem-solving and time management, as within the RFP role it relies heavily on deadlines as well as effectively applying problem-solving skills to resolves challenges that sales or the hotels might face.

Throughout my placement I have received a lot of guidance from my colleagues, managers and others throughout Hilton. I know I can turn to my team whenever I am struggling and they will give me guidance and assist me in understanding. I also have received 1-2-1 meetings with my manager every few weeks to check-in, see how I am doing and if I need any support, and these meetings have been great to share any concerns but also to reflect on the key achievements I have accomplished throughout my placement. Thus, I have received a significant amount of support and guidance from many within Hilton.

The company culture is incredibly supportive, with a positive environment where I feel comfortable asking questions and seeking support from those around me. It can be quite fast-paced at times, especially during busy season, so keeping yourself organised is key as well as seeking support if you need it. There is always a lot going on within the company so you can always busy yourself with a task or attend fun activities within the office, with lots of treats on a regular basis.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement so far and it has exceeded my expectations that I had when I came into this role. I feel that I have learned so much industry knowledge as well as developing my skills, including my confidence in presenting, networking and connecting with others. My team have been incredibly welcoming and understanding throughout my placement as they understand that I am new to the role and have shown a lot of patience as well. There is always fun activities and treats within the office which has created a positive and fun environment to work in as well.
