Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Interact with customers, respond to enquiries, process bookings and documentation, and work closely with team members to resolve issues and deliver a positive customer experience. I may also assist with fleet management activities, such as coordinating vehicle availability and ensuring records are up to date.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

A significant amount of responsibility for an internship role. I was trusted to interact directly with customers, handle bookings and rental agreements, manage administrative tasks, and help resolve customer issues independently. I was also responsible for ensuring records were accurate and supporting the day-to-day operation of the branch.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I developed several existing skills and learned new ones throughout the internship. My communication and customer service skills improved significantly because I was interacting with customers daily, handling enquiries, resolving issues, and explaining rental options clearly. I also strengthened my problem-solving skills by dealing with unexpected situations, such as vehicle availability issues or customer concerns, and finding practical solutions. In addition, I improved my time management and organisational skills by balancing multiple tasks and prioritising work in a fast-paced environment.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received a good balance of support and independence throughout my internship. At the beginning, my manager and colleagues provided training and guidance to help me understand the company's processes, systems, and expectations. They were always available to answer questions and offer feedback when needed.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture was professional, supportive, and customer-focused. Employees worked closely together to ensure that customers received a high level of service, and there was a strong emphasis on teamwork and communication. The environment was fast-paced, which encouraged everyone to stay organised, adaptable, and proactive.
