Feasibility and Investment Analysis Intern (EMEA) Review

As a Feasibility & Investment Analysis Intern, I support the assessment of potential hotel developments and investments. Day-to-day, this involves working with financial models, analysing hotel performance data such as occupancy and RevPAR, and researching markets to understand demand and the competitive landscape. I also help pull together insights for internal presentations and reports, so a lot of the role is combining data analysis with commercial thinking.

Yes, I was given a good level of responsibility throughout my placement. I was treated similarly to an analyst, which meant I had ownership of my own projects and was trusted to carry out analysis independently. I was given the autonomy to build models, conduct research, and form initial conclusions, which were then reviewed by a manager at the final stage.

Yes, I developed both new and existing skills during my placement. I significantly improved my financial modelling and Excel skills, as well as my ability to analyse hotel performance data and market trends. I also developed my commercial awareness and learned how to interpret data to support investment decisions.

I received a good level of support throughout my placement. While I had a lot of autonomy in managing my own projects, I was always able to rely on guidance from my manager and team when needed. Regular check-ins and final reviews ensured I was on the right track, while still allowing me to work independently and build confidence.

The company culture was very positive and supportive. The team was approachable and collaborative, and there was a good balance between professionalism and a relaxed working environment. I felt comfortable asking questions and contributing, which made it a good place to learn and develop.

I really enjoyed my placement overall. I found the work interesting and challenging, and I appreciated the level of responsibility I was given. Being trusted to work on my own projects made the experience more engaging and helped me develop both professionally and personally.
