Communications Intern Review

I worked on supporting both regional Corporate Communications and internal Team Member Communications, working to produce content and coverage that captures important culture moments and developments within Hilton.

I worked on various projects across departments within my team, and got good face time with executives which is rare for an intern to receive during placement. I felt a good level of responsibility and could see the real world impact of my work both internally and externally.

I've learnt a lot at this placement, both personally and professionally. My development of soft skills such as proper communication, time management and organization have been complimented by the development of specific skills such as using Excel, writing for an executive and communicating with journalists.

I recieved a lot of support and guidance from my line manager. I was made to feel like there were no silly questions and people were happy to help out or explain a little further if I was confused about anything. When I expressed interest in an opportunity, I was usually given the chance to pursue this further or at the least given advice on how to get more exposure and experience related to my interests.

The company culture at Hilton is great - there is a real pride in this and it shows through achievements such as being the World's Best Place to Work. There is a real community here, and an especially good intern community what with us having designated intern reps and intern socials.

I really enjoyed my placement, and feel very grateful that I got this experience. It's taught me so much, both personally and professionally, and I feel much more equipped to graduate and enter the world of work. I've felt supported and had good exposure to a range of disciplines within the communications team and have had some really incredible opportunities!
