Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

As a product development technologist, I worked across 3 different NPD/EPD projects within the Mr Kipling brand portfolio. My day to day varied depending on the stage of each project. Tasks included bench-work, recipe making, leading or supporting on factory trials, completing product costings and opportunities for development such as shadowing other teams.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given responsibility during my placement as I was able to work on some major product launches and was trusted to lead multi-product trials independently.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

The varied nature of the work and positive team atmosphere makes it very enjoyable as a placement year overall. However, sometimes my working hours have been long and unpredictable which can negatively impact the work life balance.

What advice would you give to others applying to Premier Foods

The placement is very factory based and gives a great opportunity to explore the food industry from a manufacturing perspective. There are also a lot of opportunities for personal career development such as visiting other sites.
