I have experienced a Secondment rotation at CML where I learnt about all aspects of the business including Design, Commercial, Compliance, Construction, Procurement, and Health & Safety.

I have developed my skills in all elements of construction throughout my programme at CML. This includes areas which I do not have direct involvement with, but the knowledge I have gained has lead to an increase in capability in my job role.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is excellently organised and the Quarterly Reviews are carried out in an extremely professional manner which has helped prepare me for my End Point Assessment at the end of my Degree.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive an incredible amount of support from both my Training Manager as well as my Line Manager in construction. I have a very good support system in place which makes me feel confident in raising issues and asking for help when required.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I could not ask for anything more from my Training Provider. The Training Team at CML are very good in support of my workplace learning as well as academic learning.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I can confidently apply the knowledge which I have learnt at University to site specific activities. I have recently completed a Highway Engineering and Surveying module which has helped when doing setting out and as built surveys on site.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

CML are poor at organising company extra-curricular activities. I am an associate member of the ICE Early Careers Network, which provides the opportunity to network with young people in the civil engineering industry. I also took it upon myself to organise Apprentice specific networking events outside of work. This involved mini-golf, darts and more.
