Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my role as Quality Coordinator within the Compliance Department at Construction Marine Limited (CML), I have developed and applied a strong understanding of quality management principles over the 19-months. I regularly support both internal and external audits, which has strengthened my understanding of audit processes, the compliance requirements and the importance of evidence-based assessments. This includes preparing and collating documentation, participating in audit discussions and contributing to the close out of audit findings. Through this, I have gained insight into continuous improvements (clause 10.3 of ISO 9001:20215) and the corrective action process (clause 10.2 of ISO 9001:2015).
Additionally, I contribute to reviewing and updating legal and industry standards, ensuring that processes remain compliant and up-to-date. This taught me the importance of standards and regulations and how they are integrated into quality management systems. My role also involves maintaining document control within the Integrated Management System (IMS) and managing records on Insight (CML’s digital platform). This helped me understand the importance of accurate documentation, version control, and consistency.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the challenging tasks and projects I work on in line with my apprenticeship course. I also enjoy going to the different offices and meeting different staff. I enjoy the apprenticeship programme by being able to work closely with all departments of the business

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have no knowledge on what Compliance was or how it supports business, but since working at CML, I have learned about the importance of ISO standards, Internal and External audits, client KPI reporting, keeping the Integrated Management System up to date, and supporting the legal and Other Requirements Register for rail standards, health and safety standards and environmental legislation. I also learned about corrective actions and the importance of closing out audit findings in a timely manner. I also learned about numerous quality tools that I have applied throughout the business during my apprenticeship, which included a KANO analysis, an Enterprise Risk Register, conducting an Internal Audit, SIPOC analysis, and much more. I have used my learning from the business and my lecturer to plan and implement a quality improvement project for the business.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The training department, my line manager, and other apprentices all provide a great support system. The programme is very organised, so we know what is expected of us at work, and from our college work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I can speak to anyone if I have any concerns or require support. The training manager who oversees the apprentice program will tailor the program if you need extra support or need more training.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have one day a week dedicated to working towards my qualification, which ensures I have enough time to complete all work. If I have any doubts about my work, I know the training manager will support and develop a plan.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
All of my college work related to the business, but some of the assignments were harder to implement into the business due to the industry we work in. I got support from my line manager to ensure we could implement it the best we could. College helped me understand the background to quality, which then developed during the work i was doing.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is a football team, and we do golf events in the spring/summer. The apprentices also meet regularly outside of work
