At the start of my apprenticeship, I rotated through a number of departments, including Procurement, Estimating, Quantity Surveying, and Projects, and I am currently working within the Design team. My role at present involves supporting the organisation and management of the design process.
These experiences are all contributing towards my long-term goal of progressing into a Site Manager role.

Starting with little to no experience in construction and civil engineering, I have developed a strong range of technical and practical skills. Developing my skills through each department.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The apprenticeship programme is really well structured, with each department planned to develop certain skills depending on the progression of your apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Throughout my apprenticeship, I have consistently received a high level of support, particularly at the early stages of my role. This has ranged from guidance on managing workload and completing college assignments to support with preparing for and completing my Level 4 End Point Assessment.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider was Leeds College of Building. They often supplied support when completing my qualifications but could have been clearer on what work is required to complete my End Point Assessment. However, they have still helped and guided me to complete my Level 4 qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I felt that my roles within the company didn't allows match up with the work I completed at college. However, it has built my technical knowledge on civil engineering techniques, which I may require in the future, when on site.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

It has a great apprenticeship programme, allowing me to build my technical knowledge in numerous civil engineering departments. They have supported me throughout with my qualifications, and it is a great opportunity to get into the civil engineering sector.

Have a keen interest in civil engineering and be open to new opportunities.
