As a Data Science Degree Apprentice, my role involves supporting the development of data-driven solutions to inform business decisions. Overall, my day-to-day work was a mix of technical analysis, problem-solving, and communication with stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a solution. I utilised a variety of different tools to create visualisations, dashboards and insights to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoyed the programme each day was varied and I had the opportunity to work on a wide range of tasks.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Throughout the programme, I developed a range of new skills while also strengthening existing ones. I was able to apply the knowledge gained from university directly to my work, which helped solidify my understanding and improve my capabilities.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well organised and clearly structured. There is a defined framework in place, with clear objectives and expectations outlined, making it easier to understand what is needed and how you can progress. There is a healthy balance between academic learning and practical work. Overall, this has made the programme a positive and effective experience for me
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There is plenty of support from the employer. There is always support available when needed, be that from my manager or colleagues. I’m given the opportunity to ask questions, develop my skills, and take on new challenges with the reassurance that support is there if required. This has made it easier to grow in my role and build confidence in my work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I received strong support from my training provider. They provide clear guidance on coursework and expectations. There are plenty of resources available, and tutors are approachable and responsive when help or clarification is needed. This support has made it easier to stay on track and manage both my studies and work commitments effectively.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification supports my role very effectively. The knowledge and skills I gain through the university help in my day-to-day tasks.

There are a number of professional networks available to get involved in, which provide good opportunities for networking across the organisation. At present, social activities and sports teams can vary depending on location however, the professional networks still offer a valuable way to connect with others.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Anglian Water?
My advice for anyone applying to Anglian Water is to be open to learning, as there are plenty of opportunities to develop both technically and personally. But most importantly just be yourself.
