Spring Insight Week Participant Review

The insight was a 4-day program covering various Lines of Business, such as Payments, Asset and Wealth Management, Markets, and Commercial and Investment Bank. We learned about the different divisions of the bank, about the work of bankers across all levels of seniority and got a sense of the culture at JP Morgan's London offices. We worked in groups on case studies and delivered presentations in front of the cohort and JP Morgan bankers. An important part of the program was also networking, with our peers as well as with the bankers.

Understanding more about the business and potential roles was very interesting as it not only covered the LOB I wish to pursue a career in but also other divisions I knew less about. Speaking with passionate JP Morgan bankers, learning from their experience and understanding their work through simulations and case studies in a collaborative environment was very insightful and exciting. It has strengthened my motivation to join JP Morgan as an Investment Banking Analyst.

I believe the most exciting new skill I learned was during the IB case study, where the analysts' feedback taught me more about how to analyze and pitch an M&A deal to a client.
During the program, I also improved my pitching skills, thanks to the AmplifyME session and the Stock Pitching session, as well as through practicing, during the various team presentations.
Lastly, I improved my networking skills, thanks to networking sessions with JPMorgan bankers and conversations after their presentations, but also throughout the week, networking with my peers.

The company culture was very people-oriented: from MD keynotes to analysts' feedback, I got the sense of a company that invests a lot in its talents so that they can thrive in the career path they choose. The professionals were proud, dedicated, and committed to delivering the best for their clients. The general atmosphere was positive and collaborative, and the diversity of backgrounds represented gave the sense of an open environment where you learn a lot.

I greatly enjoyed participating in this Spring Insight Program. Learning about the different LOBs through MD keynotes, Q&A sessions, exchanges with professionals as well as case studies and presentations with peers was very interesting and a unique opportunity. I enjoyed working in this fast-paced environment and taking part in simulations, which allowed me to get a glimpse of the career I want. Working and speaking with my peers, with whom I share the same ambitions but who have such different backgrounds, was an amazing experience. The highlight of the week for me was the Investment Banking case study: seeing what it would be like to collaborate with a team on M&A advisory and learning from the feedback of JP Morgan bankers was not only very insightful but also incredibly motivating. These 4 days were a great experience and have made me even more enthusiastic regarding a potential career in Investment Banking at JPMorgan!

I would advise someone applying to JPMorgan to not only show their motivation and explain why they chose a career in banking, but also to share what is unique about them, about their background, explaining how they could bring a new perspective to the team. I would share this advice because I discovered during the Spring Insight a very diverse environment and saw how JPMorgan's emphasis on collaborating with different people allows to deliver the best work. I would also advise them to be as curious and engaging as possible during the Spring Insight Week, in order to learn and to make the most of the experience.
