Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am an apprentice plant fitter where I do the maintenance and repairs on trucks called suction excavators. I do inspections every 8 weeks on the trucks as well as services. If repairs are needed I will go to site or the trucks will be brought back so that it can be fixed.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my work a lot and also attending college as well. I am enjoying learning new things and using the skills I learn at college in my everyday work.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I have learnt lots of skills from how to use different hand tools, how to operate the trucks, how to repair different parts of the truck, how to recognise faults and more.

My program is well structured with the training being planed that I need to complete.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support with both my work and my college work. If I need time for college work I am given the time to complete it at work. I also receive lots of support when on the job.

At college I am able to access support from tutors and other safe members if required.
