To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoyed it - just apprenticeship management can be questionable… didn’t seem like they knew exactly what they were doing half the time and micromanaging is not the correct approach to professionals in the rail industry no matter their age.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Roster is good, everything else questionable a lot of it is left down to you which is okay but can be a lot.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

It’s there if you need it but again, micromanaging is too much as an 18 year old joining a professional apprenticeship to be treated like a 12 year old at school again.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

College was ace! It was nice to spend some time with our college tutors, etc.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Would you recommend Great Western Railway to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It’s a good place to be, it’s full of its own unique challenges and development opportunities - I think the only hitch is that you aren’t guaranteed a permanent position after the apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Great Western Railway?
I would say, be yourself, take every day as a learning day and always be on your best performance! You never know who is watching - it may very well be your future manager or a hiring manager for a position you are interested in! Just don’t mess this experience up!
