To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
The programme has helped me grow in confidence and improve both my communication and professional skills. I particularly enjoy the opportunity to work on real tasks and challenges, as it makes the learning more engaging and relevant.
There are occasionally challenging aspects, such as balancing workload and study time, but overall these challenges have helped me become more organised and resilient. Overall, I find the programme valuable and enjoyable, and I feel it is supporting my long-term career development.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have improved my communication skills, especially when working with individuals who have different needs. I now take more time to listen, understand preferences, and respond in a way that supports their dignity and independence.
I have developed my knowledge of care planning. I feel more confident reading care plans, following them correctly, and contributing to reviews when needed.
My understanding of infection prevention and control has also improved. I am more aware of hygiene standards, use of PPE, and how to reduce risks in the workplace.
I have gained more confidence in handling and recording information. I now make sure records are clear, accurate, and completed in line with policies.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
The programme follows a logical order, so each topic builds on the previous one. That makes it easier to understand and apply what I learn in practice. The units are set out clearly, with expectations explained, so I know what is required at each stage.
Support from my assessor has been consistent. Reviews are planned in advance, and I get clear guidance on what to prepare. Feedback is also helpful, so I know where I am doing well and where I need to improve.
Sometimes it can feel a bit challenging to balance workload and deadlines alongside my job. But overall, the structure helps me stay on track and make steady progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
I was given time to complete my coursework and my manager has attended all my reviews, which helps me stay on track.
My manager and senior staff are approachable, so I can ask questions or get guidance when needed.
I also get support in the workplace to develop my skills. For example, I am given opportunities to carry out tasks linked to my learning, and I receive feedback to help me improve.
At times work can be busy, which can make it a bit challenging to balance everything. But overall, the support is consistent and helps me progress well in my programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
The feedback I receive is useful and specific, so I know what I am doing well and what I need to improve. I am also supported with resources and examples that help me complete my work to the right standard.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
I feel more confident in my decisions. I understand the reasons behind what I do, not just the task itself. That has improved the quality of care I provide and how I support individuals.
It has also improved my record keeping and communication with colleagues. I am more aware of policies and best practices, which helps me work more safely and professionally.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
We have occasional social activities, such as team gatherings and small events, which help build relationships and improve teamwork. These give staff a chance to connect outside of daily tasks.
There are also opportunities for professional development, like training sessions and workshops, which help expand knowledge and skills. These feel useful because they link back to the role.
