Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I came to LDC Care as a deputy manager in Feb 2024, promoted to Registered manager then stepped back after a year to focus on training to be a registered manager.
My role involves ensuring individuals in care and support are provided with the correct day to day living needs that everybody should have and ensuring the supporting team members have all the training and support they need to be able to provide excellent care and support and make sure that the individuals in care have the best life they can. At the same time, I ensure the running of a house or houses, including operational tasks, health and safety, and I teach team members within the company Proact Scipr-UK providing a PBS platform (Positive Behaviour Support) and I instruct People Moving and Moving and Handling.
I also ensure that all team members are medication administration competent and provide support through 1-1s/supervisions/Reflective Reviews
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Bit of a shakey start, I wasnt allocated the correct assessor to begin with from E-training, who LDC use for Lvl 5 dip Leadership and management, then i was allocated an assessor who ended up being poorly for a long time, now I have an assessor who understands why its taken so long to complete my apprenticeship and is supporting me moving forward.
I enjoy learning and bettering myself because I can then ensure others are receiving the right guidance and support

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have learned a lot about the differences between leading a team and managing a team. I have learned more about communication and the different levels of this. I have also learned how to react calmly and effectively in a crisis proving support to all involved.
I have learned about the processes of CQC and what they do to ensure all care providers are doing what they should legally and how they work when they come to visit

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It wasnt good to start but its balancing out now
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
LDC Care Academy are excellent in ensuring that support is provided before. during and after learning. They also welcome contact should a learner/team member need anything extra. I cannot fault what they do.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The support is there now, I know I can reach out if I feel I need to
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
LDC have a few events that happen through the year where all people we support are invited and included, their teams play a bit part in this. Cultural celebrations are a big thing within LDC and is nice that no matter where your from, you are celebrated.
LDC also support team members taking part in events away from work

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend LDC Care Company Ltd. to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have worked in the care sector since 2004, I have worked with 4 different care providers, including LDC, and LDC are by far the most supportive company I've worked for and heard of. They bolster their team, utilising peoples strengths and working on weak areas to make their team more effective. They welcome all with open arms and smiles and are there should life get hard and help is needed.
I love working with LDC Care, I cannot see me wanting to ever leave them.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to LDC Care Company Ltd.?
Take the plunge and immerse yourself into everything LDC provide, amazing people, amazing company with the needs of the people being supported put above all
