Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I support users by working on tickets, relating to enterprise platforms like SAP and Service Now - investigate the root cause of technical issues and how to fix them and maintain the systems.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I enjoyed the training sessions and the tasks I could get involved with. SAP is universal and teaches in demand skills. The only drawback of working in App Services is that quite a lot of tickets are repetitive and can get a bit monotonous after a while

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Developed my confidence and stakeholder management with people of differing seniority. Developed a technical foundation needed for a career in Tech. Learned tech concepts and how they are put into practice by the business

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
Very organised, 3 days of training a month and 1 study day a week to block out revision and focus on my weak topics. Only issue is that some of the modules taught by the training provider aren't directly related to App Services and it becomes hard to put into practice the knowledge taught if i cant directly apply it to my role

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
Receive a lot of support and study leave is offered during EPA so I am able to block out time to study and revise for upcoming exams

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

4/5
They teach me a lot of information regarding different tech concepts and topics, however some topics aren't relevant for my job role

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
I think my qualification provides me with a strong foundation of technical knowledge needed for me to have a reasonably strong start in Tech

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
Networking is highly encouraged, get to know people form different business areas and learn what the company does holistically, training is offered at the Academy which is a ST site to develop skills you would like strengthened, and extra curricular activities and D&I groups are available for you to get involved with

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Severn Trent to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Severn Trent has a friendly and supportive company culture, there are some people I've never talked to before that were willing to support me with certain apprenticeship assignments.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Severn Trent?

Be your authentic self when it comes to interviews and presenting yourself, ST look for the right knowledge and skills, but are willing to invest in individuals that have the right character and are willing to make a difference.
