Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
Manually sounding water network assets to listen for water leaks and using leak detection equipment and methods to pinpoint leaks. Speaking to customers when diagnosing potential leaks on their supplies.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
The programme offers a nice level of consistency, with activities generally being the same but with enough variation to provide different challenges each day. I definitely enjoy the programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have developed my existing skills in problem solving, liaising with customers, and working in small teams or alone. I have developed new knowledge and skills specific to my role and the water industry as a whole, with help from my colleagues and trainers.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
The programme is well structured and well organised with 3 or 4 day blocks of academy sessions every month. The sessions are planned well in advance and accommodation is all organised and paid for by the company. The sessions themselves are still flexible enough to move sessions around when necessary.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
I feel very supported by the my colleagues and the company as a whole.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I feel very supported by my training provider, with my trainers encouraging me to stay on track and even get ahead if I feel that I am able to do so. My trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and are always available to help me.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
I feel that my qualification gives me greater insight into how my role affects customers, adjacent roles and the wider company, and vice versa, more so than if I went into the role without an apprenticeship.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
Networking events are available, alongside sports teams and activities such as a walks. Volunteering opportunities such as speaking at schools are also available.
