Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
My role involves acting as the main point of contact, both internally and externally, for a visualisation platform that enables users to bring their data together in one place using both 2D and 3D environments. I support users across the business by answering questions, resolving issues, and delivering training to ensure the platform is used effectively. In addition, I am responsible for rolling the project out across a wide range of schemes and sites, adapting the approach to suit different requirements. I also work closely with contractors, coordinating and discussing surveys to ensure accurate data capture and successful project delivery.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I really enjoy engaging with the wide range of employees at Severn Trent on a day-to-day basis. Having regular conversations about how different tools and procedures can be used to improve efficiency and reduce costs across sites is particularly rewarding. These discussions not only help identify smarter ways of working, but also encourage collaboration and the sharing of ideas. Additionally, no two days are ever the same, which provides constant opportunities to apply and develop a variety of skills. This variety allows me to solve problems creatively and make a meaningful contribution at different stages of a project, helping to deliver real improvements and positive outcomes. And the most important thing is I really enjoy working at Severn Trent as there are so many to new and exciting roles and tasks which I never knew existed within the water sector.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Through my role, I have developed a wide range of skills, both directly related to my job and transferable to other areas. These include strong presentation skills, effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to collaborate confidently across different teams. I have also strengthened my innovation and problem‑solving abilities by contributing new ideas and approaches when working on various projects. Alongside this, I have built valuable interpersonal skills, allowing me to work effectively with others, adapt to different working styles, and maintain positive professional relationships while delivering project objectives.

Severn Trent is a very well‑structured organisation for my programme and is highly supportive of balancing work and university commitments. They are flexible with my working days to allow me time to focus on my university work, and they are mindful not to overload me when academic demands are high. This understanding approach helps reduce stress and allows me to manage my workload effectively while performing well both at work and in my studies.

5/5
I receive a great deal of support from my employer, who is always available to answer questions or provide help whenever I need guidance with my work. In addition, colleagues across Severn Trent are extremely friendly, approachable, and willing to offer support and advice. This creates a positive working environment where there are always plenty of people I can turn to for help, enabling me to learn, develop my skills, and complete my work with confidence.

5/5
Endless amount of support from Severn Trent employees and from my training provider being able to contact them at any time for help and guidance on a different modules.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
