Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am challenged in my apprenticeship daily in order to progress and learn as much as I can. I am given responsibility on handling tasks independently once I have shown capability. For example day-to-day, I manage the electrical connection requests for Severn Trent sites across the midlands.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It offers a wide range of exposure to different parts of the business. I have met so many great people and have learnt so much in less than a year. I have a great manager and new talent team who create an amazing, clear programme for my apprenticeship. I couldn't have chose a better place!
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have definitely developed many existing skills such as leadership, responsibility, and communication. Some of the new skills I have gained whilst at Severn Trent are being able to use Computer-Aided-Design, understand schematics like SLD's and P&ID's, and gain hands on practical skills through training and site visits.

Very well organised with a clear end goal and an amazing support team from the internal academy and new talent team.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Support is everywhere - through my manager, my colleagues, employer, new talent team. If there is ever a problem with my apprenticeship it is no doubt it can be solved the same day.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

They allow us to focus on relevant work when required and have lots of flexibility like allowing me to work from home and choose what day I want to dedicate to my University work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It definitely upgrades my skills a lot when I have full weeks dedicated to learning and understanding the content required for my qualifications. When I return to office I become more confident every time and have better skills in things relevant to my role like CAD.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Networking is a major thing in Severn Trent and there is opportunities to get involved all the time. Sports teams like an apprentice/graduate 5-a-side for football is held weekly for fun, and many social activities including big team get togethers every 6 months.

Yes
Why?
It is an amazing company to work for with great benefits and progression. There is always something to work towards and always something to feel accomplished on. Honestly, not a single person is grumpy in the offices and everyone is always happy to help (although it seems unrealistic, it is)
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Severn Trent?
Be yourself, Severn Trent will recognise you for who you are. And as long as you show you care, you will go a long way.
