Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
My role is a Test/Automation Engineer, where I ensure software quality across the development lifecycle. My responsibilities include designing and executing tests, managing defect reporting, and supporting weekly releases.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I enjoy my apprenticeship programme because it gives me the opportunity to apply what I learn directly into my role, which makes the learning feel relevant and immediately valuable. It has helped me develop both technically and academically, particularly in how I approach problem-solving, research, and communication. I also value the exposure to different areas of the tech sector, as it has allowed me to better understand where my strengths and interests lie.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have strengthened my technical skills in testing and automation, while also improving how I approach quality and problem-solving. I have become more analytical, focusing on root causes and long-term improvements rather than just immediate tasks.
I have also developed my communication skills through presenting, documentation, and working with different teams. In addition, my research and writing skills have improved, allowing me to explain and justify my work more clearly.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

3/5
It is mainly managed by myself and my line manager with work occasionally overlapping during allocated study time however most cases this is given back to me in the future.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
Full support for any assistance i may need

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
Full support for any assistance i may need

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
It has strengthened my understanding of core concepts such as software development, testing, and system design, which allows me to make more informed decisions rather than relying only on experience.
It has also improved my ability to research, evaluate different approaches, and justify decisions, which has been particularly useful when introducing improvements to testing processes and ways of working. I am more confident in identifying inefficiencies, proposing solutions, and explaining the value of those changes to the wider team.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

2/5
Christmas parties / occasional customer hosted gala however these are limited in availability for organisational atendees

I would recommend Klipboard to a friend because it provides a strong environment for both professional and personal development. The organisation offers exposure to real-world systems and challenges, which allows you to build meaningful, transferable skills rather than just theoretical knowledge.
There is also a good level of trust and responsibility given early on, which has enabled me to take ownership of work, contribute ideas, and make tangible improvements. The

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Klipboard?

My advice would be to show genuine interest in both the technology and the business problems it is solving. It’s important to demonstrate not just technical ability, but also curiosity and a willingness to learn,It also helps to show initiative.
