Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work as an audit assistant, so I take part in audits of charities and not-for-profit organisations, usually as the junior member in an audit team of two, meaning I perform a variety of different areas of audit testing.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my programme, especially the combination of learning new skills and knowledge through study and then applying that learning to the workplace.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my ability to manage various different tasks and organise myself, as well as my problem solving and investigative skills in being able to find the information I need to complete audit testing.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very well structured, as we have a clear timetable for our exams as well as all other aspects of the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my employer as there are a variety of people I know that I can go to for both technical and non-technical help in the workplace.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive strong support from my employer with regards to working towards my ICAEW qualification as they designate time off work to study and provide a clear roadmap and structure to qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think my qualification primarily helps me perform better in my role because the ICAEW exams provide me with the technical knowledge to deliver a quality audit in the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Why?
Sayer Vincent provides an amazing training experience, with a fantastic work culture. It seems very different (in a good way) to large commercial audit firms because any overtime worked is given back as extra days off and our audit delivery teams are so small (one or two people usually) that you can take on serious responsibility and learning opportunities right from the start.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sayer Vincent?
Go for it! You really do not need any background in accounting or finance (I didn't), but if you enjoy learning and supporting the charity and not-for-profit sector it is definitely for you.
