As an audit trainee, I support the delivery of audits for our charity clients. My day-to-day work includes carrying out audit testing, reviewing financial information and working with client data to play my part in ensuring the audit runs smoothly.
I work as part of a team and receive guidance from more senior colleagues, while also being given responsibility to develop my skills. The role is varied and provides a good balance of learning and practical experience.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am really enjoying my apprenticeship. I love learning new things every day and it is very rewarding to look back and see how much my knowledge and practical skills have developed over time.
Sayer Vincent is a fantastic place to learn. Everyone is very supportive and always willing to share their knowledge, which creates a really positive and encouraging learning environment.

I have developed a wide range of new skills during my apprenticeship. The learning curve through the exams has been significant, and it has been very rewarding to build up my technical knowledge over time.
Alongside this, I have gained valuable practical experience in audit, including understanding the overall audit process and carrying out detailed testing. This has helped me to develop both my technical and practical skills in a meaningful and satisfying way.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is extremely well structured, with exams and internal training planned to complement each other effectively.
There is a clear level of organisation and attention to detail, which helps ensure that we get the most out of both the qualification and our practical experience.
We are supported by a dedicated training manager and learning and development adviser, who work very hard to create a positive and well organised learning environment. Any queries I have had have always been dealt with promptly and efficiently.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have received a high level of support throughout my apprenticeship. This includes both one to one and group support sessions for specific exam modules, as well as ongoing guidance from colleagues.
I have also received excellent support in relation to my health needs, including flexibility around attending college virtually, adjustments to my exam pathway, and flexible working arrangements.
There is a strong culture of support across the firm, including regular one to one meetings with my line manager, additional support from senior team members, and a range of internal and external training sessions covering both technical skills and professional development.

The qualification is highly relevant to my role and supports my development significantly. The content, particularly in audit and assurance, is directly applicable to my day-to-day work.

There are a wide range of extra-curricular activities available, which contribute to a positive and inclusive culture. These include regular social events such as supper clubs, team lunches, bowling evenings, karaoke, and office bake offs.
There are also opportunities to attend external events, such as talks from organisations including the Bank of England. These activities provide a great opportunity to connect with colleagues and build relationships across the firm.
