Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am currently involved in predominantly audit work. This involves visiting occasionally visiting clients and performing tests to assess whether their financial statements are free from material misstatement.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the job a lot. There is quite a bit of travel on audits which is the only downside but that comes with the area of work and isn't a fault with RIckard Luckin specifically.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Coming into this role with no accounting/audit experience was challenging as I was starting from zero. However, Rickard Luckin have provided me with access to study whilst also helping me learn on the job which has been invaluable.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I am provided with study blocks before my exams to allow me to prepare which has been helpful. My exams are every quarter and Rickard Luckin have spaced them out rather than force me to sit them as quick as possible. This has been incredibly useful as it has stopped me from burning out and also gain experience whilst working which has been useful for my exams.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A|l of my managers have been very friendly and eager to help me develop. When you first join Rickard Luckin, they provide you with a buddy, which is someone who has been there a while and helps you settle in. I have been here 2 years now and still ask my buddy question and I am now even a buddy to someone else!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider, First Intuition, provides me with useful notes and great teaching during in our study blocks. They are always on call and ready to help, even on weekends. They hold lunchtime seminars for us on specific hard topics.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The information I learn on my exams is generally quite useful in my job. Certain exams arent relevant to my job role but exams like accounting and audit and assurance have massively helped me with my day-to-day job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Occasionally but not all the time. There is a football team that play the odd tournament but not consistently every week. There are times where there are networking events but not very often for us trainees. The social committee is really good at hosting firmwide events though which brings every office together for some activities and fun.

Why?
I think Rickard Luckin provide a great environment for young people to learn on the job whilst earning their ACA qualification. They provide a safe space for us trainees to make mistakes and learn from them without being afraid of whats going to happen. They provide a great structure to help us experience many different areas of audit and accounts so we are better informed and make better decisions about our future career paths.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rickard Luckin?
Just be yourself. I am not the most outgoing person and was likely quite reserved during the application process and I still got the job. Employers dont always want the loud confident person. It is important that you show that youre willing to learn. Rickard Luckin are keen to mould you so by displaying a willingness to learn you will stand out.
