I prepare tax returns, liaise with clients and HMRC.
I sometimes get involved in other projects such as P11Ds, PSAs, disclosures, and advisory work.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I like that I get the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of aspects of tax, although it can sometimes be difficult to get the more interesting work as it typically goes to those who have been at the firm longer.
I can also find the unsupervised client contact so early on rather daunting.
It hard to get apprenticeship tasks done as there is insufficient time allotted and high KPIs to meet.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

At least from an outsider's perspective, the accountancy apprenticeship programme seems to be well structured. However, a lot of the tax programme can feel like an afterthought at times. Information given on joining ended up not being correct for my programme, and a lot of ongoing information and support for the apprentices aren't applicable to me.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I feel that the staff available for support are all approachable and nice.
I do feel that it is underestimated how much time is needed for apprenticeship tasks, e.g. training logs and writing long-form reflective accounts, and as a result I sometimes fall significantly behind in order to prioritise meeting chargeable targets, which can create a lot of stress.

I haven't required any specific support so it is hard to say, but they make it clear that they are available to support with both technical and wider issues.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The technical knowledge gained through the study helps with my day-to-day role as I learn about more issues and aspects of tax.
I don't feel that the more administrative and reflective tasks benefit the performance in my role, and in terms of time this can actively take away from my performance.
