As a tax trainee in the private client team, I have my own portfolio of individuals, Partnerships and Estates that I am responsible for completing their Tax Returns for.
There are projects such as P11D preparation, Probate work, IHT work, Estate planning that I also get involved with.
The role is client facing so there is a lot of interactions with clients whether that being meetings or calls.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the role that I am in as there are so many different avenues to tax and it requires you to see the bigger picture to advise clients in the best possible way.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my communication skills since starting this role as I am communicating with new clients which different styles of communication on a daily basis.
I am also required to liaise with different teams such as accounts and solicitors for information.

I think the programmed is structured well.
There are trackers implemented in order to stay up to date with our work and our apprenticeship reviews are done every 4 months.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I do receive a lot of support from my employer when it comes to study and my work.
Obviously, being a trainee, I am not going to know everything however, the team is very supportive in helping me understand where ive gone wrong.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have monthly reviews with my manager and 4 monthly reviews with my training manager so I ca ask questions as and when.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

ince doing my first paper, I have learnt so much which has assisted me in my role and, being on my second paper currently, I am starting to understand the world of business tax to assist more clients
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, we host lots of activities such as games on the green, 5 a side football tournaments at Roots Hall and Christmas events etc
