Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I'm currently completing a level 5 apprenticeship in Operational Management. Whilst SCL are the apprenticeship provider, my employer, the Alzheimer's Society have put me on this course. As a Safeguarding Case Manager I am required to have oversight of our Safeguarding case team, processes, policies and procedures as well as the line management of staff.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy this apprenticeship. I feel that I have learned so much and it's really tested my knowledge and skills, particularly whilst remembering and using theories/methods learned. It is however sometimes difficult to manage alongside my day to day role due to workload pressures.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learned a lot including coaching and mentoring models, project management and project scoping, financial and budgeting, managing a team, leadership styles and managing a team.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It's very organised and structured with clear deadlines and meetings in place to help.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I feel we receive a good amount of support from the Alzheimer's Society, however I think more support could have been given via line management right at the start of the apprenticeship from the Society to managers to help them understand the pressures of completing this apprenticeship. Doing the work alongside a day to day role, particularly in safeguarding when something urgent may need escalating.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

SCL have been brilliant, very knowledgeable and supportive. I always know if I need support with anything she is available via email and will provide that support. She has been consistent through out.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

A lot better, i've been able to use a lot of the methods learned during my role and also i've really enjoyed completing my project which will hopefully make a difference to the organisation/team.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

As my work is home based getting involved in extra curricular activities isn't an option.

Would you recommend Alzheimer's Society to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Supportive, encouraging and pushes employees to improve knowledge and skills. The only thing I would say is through my apprenticeship more face to face would have been beneficial.
