Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a first year apprentice I am always doing different things day to day, such as containment, second fixing, wiring, reading drawings and helping out. I have already covered a lot of different things for only being 7 months in and I am constantly learning if that’s working with my hands or watching and listening to who I am working with.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy working for Bancroft as I have good support around me and also that it is a hands on experience with being busy at all times.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt and improved many skills such as communication with new people and working together or in a team. I am also starting to really understand how electrics work and how to install different containment and how to wire it. Also understanding drawings is very useful aswell as I am now getting used to looking at them and using them.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The balance of the work is well structured as I am not constantly doing the same thing every day, I am learning different skills each day and also working on existing skills. The programme it’s self is also very well structured with also including my college course and my training officer.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received very good support with any issues being sorted straight away. My employer has good communication and is helpful at all times. I also feel confident in being able to go to my employer about future problems that I may face as I know that my employer will be able to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is also very good and helpful. I feel like I am progressing well at college and for the 6 hours I am there in the classroom a week I learn various different things to help me with my work on site and also to help me with my college exams. I also feel confident in asking for help with any support I need at my college aswell
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As I am still not qualified I don’t have a qualification that helps me perform better in my role but I can see that the qualification I am working towards (gold card) will help me perform better.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

At Bancroft they are quite frequently doing social activities such as last years Christmas party we went bowling and also celebrating Bancrofts 30th anniversary we went to electric shuffle. We also have a another party coming up on the 30th may to celebrate the 30th anniversary which family of employees are invited to which is also a good example of social activities.

Why?
I feel since I’ve started at Bancroft 7 months ago I have acquired lots of new valuable skills which will help me in my life in the future, I have also met some very good people whilst working. The qualifications and courses they offer aswell are also very good such as iPaf and PASMA .
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bancroft Ltd?
In the interview I would encourage you to be your self, and also discuss your strengths such as being punctual(arriving on time and always coming in) also being polite and using manners if that’s on site or in the office.
