Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I would work on reception 3 days a week, this involved welcoming clients, setting up meetings for other colleagues and sending/receiving letters for the business. The other 2 days I worked upstairs in the office and I would provide admin support with a number of tasks such as working on timesheets - making sure the correct hours were input, checking holiday days for site operatives, helping with procurement and raising award approvals for goods requested by our site and making sure goods were delivered and booked in.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoyed this apprenticeship as it helped me to learn about how a business operates and develop a lot of skills. All my colleagues have always been really helpful and supportive if I was struggling with anything. Overall, everyone I worked with during my apprenticeship was really helpful and made my experience enjoyable and helpful.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I learnt new skills such as how to use different types of software's - Sage, Dalux and how to extract data from the timesheet portal onto an excel sheet. It helped me develop current skills such as communication and confidence.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The course was very well structured, Exentec made sure I had a tutor which came in once a month to help me with everything and teach me in person. She made sure to give me enough study material to where I had enough to keep studying the entire month without overwhelming me.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received an incredible about of support from my employer, there are a few people at the company who have completed the same course as me and whenever I would go to them asking for help or advice, they would always help me out, no matter how small or big my question was.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I received a lot of support, if I was struggling with a task or needed some help on understanding something, I always received a prompt response via email which was always insightful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel very confident after completing this qualification as it taught me valuable knowledge about how the business operate, how to be better at problem solving and how to effectively communicate with different departments.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

At Exentec Hargreaves, they always have some sort of charity event you can get involved or other events which bring everyone together as a team. Every March or May they run a team event for which team can achieve the most steps in that month which gets you up and going and working together to try and walk the most miles out of anyone. A charity event I was apart of in 2025 was a 5 a-side football tournament which helped to raise money for Christies Charity.

Why?
The environment at Exentec is amazing, it feels like everyone is working together rather than everyone only trying to help themselves. This atmosphere is so refreshing as I know I can always rely on my colleagues if I need help or if they need help. This helps to build better morale within the company as everyone is very friendly, always saying good morning to each other and smiling or just a general chat about how your day or week has been going at lunch, for these reasons I would highly recommend Exentec Hargreaves to any of my friends.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Exentec UK Hargreaves Ltd?
Make sure to show yourself to the best of your ability by being polite and confident in your ability as this will push you further ahead of other people applying. I can speak from experience from working on reception, when someone comes in for an interview, if they smile and are polite and professional, that shows an amazing first impression.
