Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Supported the delivery of UK marketing activity across campaigns, through targeted email communications, monthly newsletters, events and social media promotion.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was encouraged by my manager and team to assist and lead on projects including acting as the Organic Social Promotion Lead for UK Professional Investors in 2026, by planning, delivering and reporting back on high quality, insight led organic social activity. I also lead on our weekly internal newsletter, that ensured teams across the business stay informed on upcoming content and priorities.

I have gained new skills in email/newsletter building, event management, social media marketing and the use of automation/AI tools.
I have developed numerous skills whilst in the traineeship also including; Communication, team-working, Microsoft 365, problem solving and creative thinking.

I was given full support and encouragement from my line manager and wider team throughout my traineeship, they were/are always open to new ideas, suggestions and feedback, whilst answering any question I had.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The support you have as a colleague at Aberdeen is incredible, they have numerous colleague networks boosting inclusivity e.g. gender-equality, LGBTQ+ etc. and communities that colleagues can connect on, they often host internal events that anyone is welcome to come along too.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have enjoyed the whole experience, I was anxious of the unexpected as I had never worked in financial services before but I have felt nothing but supported since the minute I walked through the doors.
