In my current role as a trainee in the Sustainable Investment team at Aberdeen, my day‑to‑day work involves supporting research, analysis, and administrative tasks across multiple teams. A key part of my role is researching and analysing companies, using reports, disclosures, and external sources. I then document my findings clearly and accurately to support internal assessments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy the programme. Everyone is very nice and approachable and my work pushes me just enough so that it is a challenge but still manageable.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, definitely! I have learnt so much since the start of my traineeship. I have been able to develop my knowledge in investments and asset managers in general, as well as learn how to analyse a company, how debt works, how the news and other external factors affects the financial and investment universe.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Vey well structures, the course is clear and we have a lot of meeting together so there is definitely support. Although I think there is a little room for improvement such as my manager having more prior notice to me coming into her team, as well as enough opportunity within the company so that I can stay on and focus on my work within my team without having to worry and spending time applying elsewhere and preparing for interviews.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My manager and everyone in my team is great and very supportive, as well as this I also receive support from people who help run and look after the people on the traineeship as well as the HR women who also looks after the trainees and is great.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support from the training provider is great. She is a lovely women who always asks up to email her is we have any questions or need any help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I haven't really found this as the qualification is mainly asking questions on my role, therefore it is more accurate to say that my role helps me perform better with the qualification.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there is. there is volunteering days, sports tournaments, there is a 5k run. there is also social events outside of work.

Would you recommend Aberdeen to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think it is such a great place to work and develop skills. The office that I work in is amazing, in the best location and full of really nice people.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aberdeen?
Be yourself (be chatty and friendly) but also prepare well for the interview. Also have strong ambition and an idea of what you want to do , or at least what you don't want to do.
