Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my current role within the wheel and brake assembly department, I am responsible for building, inspecting, and testing aircraft wheel and braking systems to ensure they meet safety and quality standards. On a daily basis, I work from engineering drawings and procedures to assemble components, whilst focusing on adhering to specifications and safety standards.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme, particularly the hand on experience it provides and the opportunity to develop practical skills. I benefit from a strong support both from individuals within my section and the early careers team, which helps me build confidence and improve in my role. I also value the fact that I am constantly learning, whether that is through day to day tasks or gaining a better understanding of the wider processes involved. Overall, the programme has been a positive experience and is helping me grow both technically and professionally.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed a wide range of skills throughout my programme. My practical skills have improved significantly through hands on experience, particularly in using tools correctly. My communication skills have also developed, especially through working and engaging with so many colleagues. I have also had opportunities to build leadership skills through company provided training, which have helped me become more confident in taking initiative.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is well organised, with a structure which supports my day to day work as well as completing my programme and coursework.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a high level of support from my employer. I am given good opportunities for hands on learning and training. I also receive strong support with my programme and the coursework which entails with it. The early careers team are highly supportive and if I ever have any questions, there is always someone available to provide guidance and support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive good support from my training provider while working towards my qualification. An assessor visits every three months to review progress and provide guidance on my programme. In addition, I am able to contact them at any time if I have any questions or need clarification, and they are always willing to help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification supports my role to a certain extent, although it does not directly link to my day to day assembly role. My qualification is more focused on product design and development, it does not always apply to the tasks I carry out. However, it does help me build a broader understanding of engineering principles and processes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a wide range of activities available at work. This includes company events such as end of year celebrations, as well as recognizing occasions such as mental health awareness, black history month and international women's day. There is a football team that anyone can join, which is a good way to get involved outside of work. The company also provides professional networking opportunities including visits from other engineering companies.
