Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

We work with different customers within the aftermarket of aerospace - being the main form of communication between the customer and business - dealing with any and all inquiries such as orders, quotes and order tracking.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have learnt so many new skills as well as this being my first job in an office environment. Everyone was so welcoming when joining the team and supportive. The job is very enjoyable, i am still learning new things everyday and developing my skills

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I believe i have developed skills such as office etiquette, communication skills, IT skills and generally working within a diverse team of incredible people has taught me many more.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

the structure of my apprenticeship from the beginning has been very strong in my opinion, I have felt organised and supported from working in the office to working towards my qualification with my training provider, however if I ever feel like I need more support I know I am able to ask for it.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

As we spend 80% of our apprenticeship in the office working as part of the team, i feel extremely supported. In my opinion the team introduced us into the work place very well ensuring we are free to always ask for support when needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Our training provider offers support whenever we need it, quickly responding to any questions we have ensuring we feel comfortable and understand the work clearly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

We learn in depth about the different characteristics f customer service such as how to provide the best quality service always, how to act professionally and how to develop ourselves within our roles. I believe we actively and regularly apply what we learn in work placements
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are many extra curricular activities, such as football teams, charity events such as sleeping under the stars in support of veterans, and social work events arranged by the starpoint engagement team. there are also groups such as peer W which welcome anybody to ensure everyone is comfortable in the work place and to create more of a sense of community.

I find the work environment very enjoyable, whilst also having learnt many new skills i look forward to the ones I am going to learn in the future. You are encouraged to think about developing your career and how to get the most out of your apprenticeship. The community is full of amazing and passionate people who are always so welcoming and supportive.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Parker Meggitt?
Show your true personality - though the skills you currently hold are important I believe employers want to find someones who is passionate to work and develop new skills along with always being a team player and supporting others.
