Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a site based engineer so I spend a fair amount of time on site getting an understanding of the works going on, I also work on the quality check sheets my team has to do as a HS2 standard. Day-day I also attend a lot of planning meetings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Developed a more critical and logical engineering mind set, I've learnt to use computer software's like auto CAD and propeller to work with models, Learnt how to use surveying equipment like total stations CAT and Gennys Laser levels and GNNS gps machines.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Lots of opportunity for me to experience different aspects of engineering and learn lots of skills but no set path I am aware of, this is mostly due to the nature of work on HS2.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Huge systems of work an information to refer too and a clear structure of who to go to with issues
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My team is very understanding of my work and offer to review if its in there field of understanding and allow time off on deadline days too work on my CW

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Had lots of opportunities to go on work socials and have attended a few early career fairs to represent my company and network
