Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Eight "Focus On" sessions into the firm's key practice areas, delivered by Associates, were very interesting and valuable in shining light on the specific areas of expertise of each team, their clients, and the day-to-day practices of trainees and lawyers in the team. Each Associate presenting was incredibly enthusiastic about their role and happy to answer any questions around the practice area. These sessions definitely opened my eyes to some fascinating aspects of practice areas that I hadn't considered before.
During the week, I sat within the Intellectual Property, Regulatory & Digital (IPRD) team. I was tasked with some really interesting work researching into the EU AI Act for my supervisor. This gave us a great insight into the cutting-edge work the team does. Moreover, during the week I had lots of opportunities to speak to other members of the IPRD team and learn more about other fascinating areas of IPRD such as the leading Reputation Management work the team does.
In terms of culture, Taylor Wessing stands out from other firms. The Partners and senior lawyers have been so welcoming and generous with their time during the week. Moreover, the semi-open nature of the office is great in allowing trainees and paralegals to work alongside some of the top lawyers in the firm.
How would you rate the structure of the insight
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Within the IPRD team, where I sat for the week, everyone I met was so friendly and happy to talk me through their work. The IPRD team has a broad range of specialisms, so these conversations were invaluable in providing insight into the specific work available to trainees and lawyers in the team.
