My job role as a consultant is to deliver construction management solutions and provide value to our clients within their build projects. On a day-to-day basis this involves estimating and quantity surveying tasks made up of heavy communication and attention to technical details.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The degree apprentice programme is perfect for anyone interested in quantity surveying, and AG Surveying provide a welcoming and driven environment to foster growth. While working towards my degree I've gained valuable experience in the field all facilitated and supported by my team.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

There is a wide number of skills you'll need to apply within construction management, with a huge emphasis on communication skills which I've developed greatly with real world experience. Problem solving and numerical skills are also crucial and have been strengthened during my employment along with countless others.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My course at university is well structured to introduce new concepts at a steady pace to give us time to digest information as our experience in the field develops, however I wouldn't call it perfect as the information I've studied so far has been largely related to construction as a whole rather than my role directly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

AG Surveying has a large workforce made up of apprentices, who have already been in my position, that are available and willing to provide their support wherever necessary. The directors understand the importance of our qualifications and help facilitate our studies where they can.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

ARU have a large team of staff who will provide all the support you need with your university course.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I'm currently nearing the end of the first year of my degree and so far the content I have studied hasn't been directly related to my role but more to construction as a whole. However the following years of the course are set out and I can see how the modules will benefit me and reinforce my knowledge.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We take part in plenty of extra curricular events as a team, including quarterly team building days, weekly sports and lunch events, post-work outings and more.

Why?
AG Surveying is a young and sharp team consisting largely of apprentices with driven directors and team leaders that actively provide and foster growth opportunity within the role. The firm is expanding consistently with future growth and direction for the business mapped out and objectives being actively sought after. The team create an encouraging environment to work and personally I greatly enjoy working with them.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AG Surveying?
The main thing would be to show that you're driven and interested in the industry so that its clear you have the right attitude towards the role.
