Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
During the four-day Spring Week, I rotated across multiple divisions of JPMorganChase : Payments, Asset & Wealth Management, Markets, and Investment Banking. Each day involved a mix of workshops, live simulations, and case studies reflecting the real day-to-day of each business. This included a mock AWM morning meeting, a margin call hedging exercise, a private banking client case study, and an Investment Banking case study that I helped prepare and present to senior professionals.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
As a Spring Week participant, I was not given direct responsibilities, which is expected at this stage. The programme was structured around observing, learning and engaging, attending workshops, simulations and presentations led by senior professionals. My role was to absorb as much as possible, ask questions and demonstrate my potential rather than take on live work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
The Spring Week significantly developed both my technical and soft skills. On the technical side, I gained exposure to financial markets, asset management, credit risk, and investment banking through live simulations and case studies. On the soft skills side, I improved my ability to work under pressure, present to senior professionals, and collaborate with peers from diverse backgrounds.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
The level of support throughout the week was excellent. The Early Careers team was highly organised and always available to answer questions. We had direct access to senior professionals, including Managing Directors, through keynotes, panels and workshops, which made it easy to seek guidance and gain honest insights into the industry.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture at JPMorganChase was genuinely diverse, people from very different backgrounds, nationalities and career paths, which made every interaction enriching. What struck me most was the openness across all levels of seniority: from analysts to Managing Directors, everyone was approachable and clearly willing to help. There was no sense of hierarchy being a barrier.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed the Spring Week. The variety of divisions covered, the quality of the sessions, and the people I met made it an incredibly valuable experience. Four days felt both intense and too short, which is probably the best sign. It has genuinely reinforced my desire to pursue a career in finance and ideally return to JPMorganChase.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend J.P. Morgan to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to J.P. Morgan
Be genuinely curious and come prepared. Research the divisions you'll be exposed to and follow financial news. During the week itself, make the most of every networking opportunity, don't be afraid to approach senior professionals, and engage fully in every workshop and simulation. Most importantly, be yourself, the culture values authenticity as much as technical ability.
