Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a shift lead in OXO factory at Premier Foods Worksop Site. I cover shift managers when on annual leave or sickness and complete all tasks that they are required to carry out within the operations function. When not covering i support the manager on shift and all the other functions within the centre such as quality, planning, engineering.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the program itself and the content and away days that i have had an are planned in. But it can be hard to balance with working a full time job when i am covering shift managers and unable to take time to focus on my apprenticeship.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes i have learnt a multitude of skills regarding different managment techniques, approaches, legislations etc. and found it very informative and interesting to have a more in debth focus and education regarding managment, and not just learning on the job being trained by the shift managers i work with.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well structured and organised with schedules / itinarys but there has been issues regarding the lifetime webinars initially with wrong teams links being sent out multiple times, however my coach has always sorted this out and been very helpful.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I recieve ample support from my employer and am allowed to take time out when possible to work on my coursework. It has been a struggle recently with a shift manager going off sick so i have been managing a shift for a while now and struggled to keep on track with my apprenticeship. But my coach has been very understanding of this and supporitve whenever i have needed it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has been very good at providing me with an in debth knowledge around everything relating to managment. Compared to the training i recieved when starting the role as a shift lead and learning on the job from a shift manager who is doing his own job and never been shown how to train / coach someone himself.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there is a sports social club where events / days out are regularly planned in and available to participate in. There is also a strong golf community at my site and we have also done a few 6 a side football matches with workmates.

Would you recommend Premier Foods to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a good company that pays its workers well, has good benefits regarding healthcare, sharesave scheme and a good pension.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Premier Foods?
I would advise them to have their cv up to date and try and have previous experience in the manufacturing industry if possible. Or look at starting one of the apprenticeships provided.
