Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Currently in Global Sustainability role. I'm working on a sustainable fund that repositions poorly performing assets and makes them more sustainable. I also help coordinate with WBCSD to ensure their conference are driving and making large corporates aware of sustainability.
other roles include - Rating Advisory, Office Agency, Property Management & Valuations.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have found this current rotation very interesting so far and feel it is pushing me to take initiative and greater responsibilty in more complex tasks.
Regarding previous roles, I feel Office Agency was the most enjoyable. Then the other roles were very informative and gave me good knowledge to apply to other areas but I didn't feel as motivated and intrigued by them.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I believe my apprenticeship has given me many skills inside and outside the work place. Not only has my general understanding of different business lines improved but I feel my social skills have been forced to improve due to often communication with clients and collegues.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I would say overall structure of the progamme is well organsied. However, when the next rotation is coming up their can be a bit of delay in knowing where you are going as I feel the early careers team is aligned with general business lines / teams.
Additionally, I do feel the apprentice salary doesn't align as well as it could with the graduate scheme. As although a fourth year apprenticeship (the same age as a new graduate) would have more experienece than a graduate without a real estate degree, they are paid less. I feel this is unfair as many teams would find a 4th year apprentice more valuable than a 1st year graduate.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I feel if support is required it is very easy to reach out. However, if you do not raise any concerns it is unlikely anyone would reach out to see how things are progressing.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider as been excellent in providing support.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel there is some overlap and bits of information have been useful. However, I do feel the degree doesn't always translate to real world scenarios and I can't ask collegues for help as the University can disagree.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many sports teams at JLL that are very inclusive and help you meet you new people in the business. Also, the Graduate programme and Apprentices often mix and socialise on Thursdays. I do feel there could be more structured social events organsied by the business though.
