Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I'm currently in my third year of my apprenticeship my day to day duties include carrying out safe isolations of panels, wiring motors, and fault finding on control panels. I am also involved in installing lighting and sensors across site.. alongside this, I complete my apprenticeship portfolio by proving evidence of the work I have carried out, demonstrating my progress and competence on site.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy going out on site and completing practical tasks. I find it rewarding being able to fault find and fix issues, especially after the training i have completed to get to this stage. I also use my spare off the job time to revise electrical theory and exam content, which helps build my confidence and understanding of my role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have continued to develop both new and existing skills throughout this period. my problem solving ability has improved through diagnosing faults on control panels helping me take a more logical and methodical approach.
I have also strengthened my technical and knowledge of electrical systems through wiring installations and safe isolation. Additionally my attention to details, safety awareness and communication skills by working alongside experienced engineers and taking on feedback.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is well structured, with a good balance between on site practical work and having time to complete my portfolio. I also have regular progress reviews every 8 weeks which help track my progress and ensure I am meeting my targets. The structure allows me to develop consistently and stay on track with my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive good support from my employer particularly from the experienced engineers on site. They are approachable and provide me with guidance when needed, while also encouraging me to work independently and trust myself more as my confidence and skills improve.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive good support from my training provider, with clear guidance on what is required for my qualification. they provide helpful feedback on my portfolio work and are available if I need support which helps me stay on track and progress.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Although I am still working towards my qualification, it is already helping me improve in my role. The theory and learning I complete supports my understanding of electrical systems, which I can then apply on site, particularly when fault finding an carrying out installations.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I am part of a few groups within the company one being the Neurodiversity Support Squad where regular meetings are held and sometimes coffee meet ups. Across the company there are also Charity Football Match's held and volunteering opportunities.
