My role is very vast. I rotate around HR Shared Services in Balfour Beatty. I have been able to gain a breathe of HR knowledge while completing my apprenticeship studies. I do everything from Admin, to project based work and data/automation.

Yes, over the nearly two years I have massively developed from working at Balfour Beatty. I have gained confidence, gained knowledge of HR, nearly completed a degree in HR fully funding by the company.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There were a few teething issues at the beginning of my apprenticeship as my function had never hired a HRSS specific apprentice before. But other than that it has been great!
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I recieve alot of support from my employer. Apprentices are very highly valued. I have 121s with my manager and other managers in the function. I have developmental chats and a mentor.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Alot of support, able to email whenever, have an online classroom where we can use the materials provided. And have a cohort of other employees who are also completing the qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes i am part of the inclusion and fun team where i support charity iniatives, inclusion and collaboration activities acorss HRSS.

A great company which is thriving. Always jobs for good people, and it is part of a ever growing industry, so there are always opportuntiies to grow and develop.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
Be patient! There are alot of jobs in Balfour Beatty and many avenues to go down. If you dont get one role there will 100% be another! Make sure your CV stands out and include a cover letter.
